Forceware 169.25 (or 169.09, not sure) was causing random hardlocks in WMP on my rig. Now i run 171.16, seems ok.

I've had a couple of BSOD's in Vista MC since installing the 169.28 drivers.

I upgraded to the latest 169.28 beta and removed the auzentech. Loaded the latest R1.86 realtek driver.

Ran the movie that hard locked on me through overnight (looping) twice now. No lock yet. Watched another movie last night, 2 hrs long, and no lockup yet.

Looks like it might be fixed.

Sweet
please do tell if it was the drivers or soundcard that caused the lockups

Hard to say and I may not know without putting the auzentech back in which I'm loathe to do. I essentially changed two things at once (video driver, and sound card). Now that it seems to be OK - best not to screw with it.

c-media drivers are quite bad. i'm betting the sound card caused it.

Kinda sad init? People hate Creative and their bloated driver suite. And yet the C-Media isn't very good either. What the hell is left? Onboard sound. lol!

There is a simple solution to the creative bloat and thats not to install it.

true, all you need is the driver and audio console. thats it.

when installing from CD just hit custom.
