What's PCI-X used for, cards like Tesla and what not? Is software RAID only with Linux? I really want to try Linux to see what it's like. I heard it can help me with my.....intrusion skills.

software raid, isn't this going to put a bigger load on the cpu that would otherwise be handled by raid hardware?

Ze interweb is run on Unix. I can't read binary. Unix doesn't use that, it uses stuff like Python, and basic stuff. And don't Unix OS's offer programing software that MS can't?

Mostly HW RAID and high speed interconnect (like, e.g., Infiniband or Myrinet) cards, but it's being phased out. Most of those cards can now be haved with a pci-e interface.

Technically, no. Most cheap ass Promise and Adaptec raid cards are not real hw raid, some give a little offload of the cpu (mostly for raid5), but other than that the work is done in software by the driver.

A little. But the advantages are in favor of it. First off, software raid is faster, unless you go for a really high end raid card, with a lot of onboard memory. Secondly, it's much cheaper. What you loose is hot swapping (but then, not every hw raid card supports it either), and some more ease of use (that is, you have to configure it in software, 4-5 commands from the shell, big deal)...

I helped a buddy of mine build his gaming rig with that case. Very well done, matter of fact I was considering this case before I got my TJ-10. We had an issue with his Antec PSU ATX12V connector barely reaching the mobo connector but other than that, it was quite easy to build. I still like my TJ-10 better however.

I was going to wait on a Cosmos Storm but couldnt wait I pulled trigger today from everything I see and read about it makes me want to have it now.
