Other surveys show xbox and ps3 swapped. The loud part of the xbox 360 is the DVD drive, which was replaced in the 2nd generation with a much quieter model.
Edit: Found some more noise stats, which are the complete opposite: http://www.videogamesblogger.com/200...eally-make.htm
well that first link isn't true at all. I just bought a new 360 Falcon unit and it's just as loud as my old unit; and just as loud as my PC. No way in hell is a 360 quieter then a Wii or even a PS3 since they hardly make any noise at all.

LOL! The Wii is absolutely SILENT. They don't know what they're talking about. It's quieter than the PS3 is.

My 360, on the other hand, sounds like a hair-dryer.

Wow.

Your calling: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060413-6600.html a BS source? Not only has he written a huge number of articles on chip architecture, but also is the lead behind the arstechnica website, and has a book on chip architecture http://arstechnica.pgpartner.com/sea...oduct/sv=title

note: I'm not rebutting your stance, I'm rebutting your designation of the quality of the sources.

Lets drop it, I really just wanted some feedback to see if I made a good decision on the xbox360 so far I am very pleased with it. the ps3 looks awesome but I really like the number of demos and games available for the xbox 360 plus windows vista integration.

If you're happy with X360, then great! Yeah it's great console with such huge library. PS3 is great with blu-ray and few game exclusives. You can always save up to get PS3 later. That's what I did and I'm glad I have two consoles. I'm trying to save up for Wii...

Hey NaitoSan, just curious... why do you have that Logitech speaker system? Do you turn it up to feel the bass?

You made a great decision. My 360 has been getting tons of lovin with Lost Odyssey. 47 hours into it so far and going strong...great story and characters.

Next up..DMC4(360)!!

My PS3 is feeling left out right now

My mate had his Wii over. It was pretty quiet, but noticeably noisier than my PS3. Of course the 360 was as you said. A hair-dryer.

I wonder if there's a difference in some of them, then. Mine is quiet as a mouse. I've often wondered if it even had fans in it, although I'm sure it does.

Yeah, exactly because I live in condo. I want ButtKicker LFE kit but it's like $450 or so. Gamer edition might be good because it's a lot cheaper ($65 at gogamer.com) but it's not designed for couch... oh well. I can always bring chair over or so.

but my question to you guys is the ps3 the one to have????
i heard the graphics on the ps3 were not so good. plus the game library is not as good as the 360,
please give me your input on this, I greatly appreciate it.
I think the graphics are the same and I have owned a 360. Maybe you can pick out the difference in the graphics when you freeze it, take a picture and look at it for a few minutes. I how ever will be playing the game and not looking at side by side shots.

For me it came down to the blu-ray player. Now that blu-ray is the only format it makes more sense to get the PS3. You couple that with the lack of jet engine noise from the fans and it is a much better buy. However, if you want a large game selection then go with the 360.

Meh It was probably all said earlier but I don't care. DREAMCAST FTW!
