Default Unable to start nvidia-settings

Hi

I am running openSuSE 10.3 on a Lenovo T61p with a NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (rev a1) card using the 169.12 driver. I have never been able to start the nvidia-settings program. It always gives me the same error: "You do not appear to be running the Nvidia X driver". I have run nivida-xconfig multiple times with no luck at all. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Below is my xorg.conf file:

Please see the forum sticky posts about how to report a problem. Typically, though, this happens when you're running Xgl.

Am I correct in understanding that nvidia-settings does not work with XGL ?

That's right. Xgl does not support the NV-CONTROL extension that nvidia-settings needs. You may be able to use the -c option to nvidia-settings to have it display on Xgl but control the underlying Xorg server, but that typically doesn't work due to the access controls set on the parent server.

From your bug report log, the NVIDIA driver appears to be running fine.
