I just got a 30" monitor at work, and I'm having trouble configuring the resolution. At best I'm getting 1440x900. I tried editing xorg.conf manually at putting the high resolution in the settings, but it was just ignored. Ideas? Can the driver even support the full resolution?

OK, I got a new card w/ dual link. Still no joy. This time X starts up, but the lower 3/4 of the screen just flicker. The driver (nvidia-glx-new) should theoretically support the card/monitor combination, but it doesn't seem as if it does.
Attached is the X log. |

Ah, true. Be that as it may, I tried letting it set its own resolution, as well as specifying it (at the wrong resolution). Shouldn't it fail w/ a fallback if it gets the wrong res?

I think you need to post your nvidia-bugreport.sh output when X started with verbose logging, not just your xorg.conf
