Hello everyone, i installed my new nvidia 8800gt card today, and installed the 169.12 linux drivers.
When i did glxgears without running compiz fusion, i got: 96185 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19236.924 FPS 95989 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19197.635 FPS 96183 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19236.473 FPS 96245 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19248.871 FPS When i ran glxgears with compiz fusion running, i got a significant drop in FPS: 59531 frames in 5.0 seconds = 11906.100 FPS 63632 frames in 5.0 seconds = 12726.377 FPS 64414 frames in 5.0 seconds = 12882.766 FPS 64245 frames in 5.0 seconds = 12848.726 FPS Is there any reason for the drop in frame rate, and why is there such a significant drop? |

glxgears is not a benchmark.
It depends heavy on the CPU and other components. Then: Compiz will use the GPU and CPU, as it is an OpenGL Application with lots of calculations which still need the CPU. So of course the results will be lower. If you have major slowdowns in games or similar just exit compiz before running them (recommended) or run them on an own X Server (not recommended) |

choose loose-binding but not indirect rendering as it uses aiglx instead of nvidia's internal acceleration
