Thanks Sony for testing the firmware fully. ::

At least I didn't have the same issues as BB, but the screen is definitely dimmer. On;y in the menu, in game and vids it appears to be fine.

Probably not a good idea on a system you can't measure the running temps accurately. I mean my PS3 is dead quiet even watching BDs and upscaled DVDs. The noise it makes folding is something else. It's being pushed to it's limits.

Is there an official response on a fix for this?

Not far from getting a PS3, and I use HDMI so this is a concern.

Shouldn't be a concern. I just watched a BD on mine along with DVDs and Heavenly Sword all day. No issues. Mine just seems to dim a bit on the dashboard.

**OT** Sorry...Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on this...I can log into the router (so my PC can see the router), the router's internet light is green (as in good), and I can get internet by connecting fios directly to my PC. But through the router, no luck...I'll try again tonight when I'm off work...Doesn't make much sense...
Any luck with this? I'm currently using the router verizon gave me with fios (actiontec) and have never had any issues connecting via wireless with my PS3 (got fios back in June). If you need me to look at any specific settings, let me know.

From everything I've read, Sony/Stanford could make folding@home even more of a ps3 stress test. Currently, the application only puts the cell processor to full use, but doesn't offload any of the calculations onto the gpu. Given that most of nVidia's GPUs in the last couple years are very programmable, they should be able to put a bunch more load on the GPU. Potentially making the system even better at folding@home, and putting a lot more load on the ps3.

Yeah...I was being a nub. With my old actiontec it would pretty much immediately get me on the net when plugged in. I guess with the newer router it can take up to an hour to release and renew everything. The only way it can be done faster is by calling VZ and having them use thier tool, but when I called, the tool was "under maintinance"...LOL
