Default Total newb

Hi everyone - I did a dumb thing:

In my xorg.conf file I inserted the line Options "DPMS" under the Device section (something I read somewhere suggested that this is how I could enable Power Control settings under the KDE display box). After rebooting I received a fatal server error "no screens found" - along with the errors "NIVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA graphics device!" and "Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration".

I then figured the obvious thing to do was to take out the DPMS line I inserted in the xorg.conf file & reboot, but the same error came up.

I'm running REL5. My xorg-x11-server version is 1.1.1-48.26.e15_1.5. Offhand I don't know the version of my NVIDIA driver but I installed the most recent last month.

Please help me...
thanks so much.
