Default hardy with 9755 driver ?

Hey guys,
I am running ubuntu hardy and all of the nvidia drivers form 100.xx and up all install just fine, however they suck big time with my fx5700 card. The beast driver for this card is the 9755 driver however, it refuses to install onto ubuntu hardy.
Is this by chance because of x11/xcb?
If so is there a way around this?
I really hate the recent drivers and would prefer the 9755
thanks
