Default NEW BETA STILL TRASH

Go 6100/6150, switch to terminal to activate DPMI and it dies. No further info required since there are already about a hundred threads on this problem.

Same crap, new version number. Locks up or kicks me out to KDM.
Back to 100.xx.xx driver where these problems don't exist.

Do logs say anything?
That sounds bad.
What version of xorg do you have?

No info in logs at all. With or without compiz-fusion, same problem.
With xorg-x11-7.2 or 7.3, same problem.
With xorg-server-1.4.x.x or 1.3.x.x, same problem.

This happens on all 169.xx and 17x.x drivers.
I use 100.14.19 driver and NEVER have this problem.
EDIT: using 2.6.24-r3 kernel

and of course you don't overclock, disabled all 'spread spectrum' options in bios and made sure, that the problems are not caused by stale files.

Do the 100.x.x drivers work with a 2.6.24 kernel?

I do not OC the video card and am currently not OC my CPU. Of course all
'spread spectrum' options are disabled. And of course i clean out previous
install when testing new drivers.

If there was something else besides the new drivers causing this issue then
i would assume that i would not be able to run fine with the 100.xx.xx driver.
On a side note, I also have a fresh linux install on a diff HDD that shows the
exact same problem.

Of course it does. As i stated above that is what i am using and it works
without lockups or kick outs that all new drivers give me.

What patchset you use to 100.14.19 and kernel 2.6.24? On my laptop new drivers (169-173) totally crap too ((

I find solution...
Code:
# export SYSSRC=/usr/src/linux-2.6.24.4
# sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.23-pkg1.run --x-prefix=/usr --x-module-path=/usr/lib/xorg/modules

I run a 6600gt, Kubuntu Hardy and KDE4. No stability problems but lots of slowness.

I just installed 100.14.23 and they're just as slow as the 17x betas.
I guess the real problem is that nvidia drivers and newer xorg's just aren't compatible in some way(s). The thing i love most is that new nvidia drivers focus on compatibility with the newer cards and not on fixing the real problems. Also if it's a Xorg problem i think nvidia can afford a little sponsorship.. they're losing Linux users while the Linux userbase is growing..

Nvidia.. you'd be better off helping Nouveau!

I don't use any patchset. I use a Gentoo ebuild which pulls the .run straight from nVidia

Wired. For the me 100.x.x don't compile on 2.6.24. I'm sure I correctly specified the paths.
