Default Driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86-169.12-pkg1.run & 2.6.25 not compatible

It seems that that NVIDIA-Linux-x86-169.12-pkg1.run is NOT compatible with kernel 2.6.25 as it won't install at all as I get an unable to build the kernel modules when I've changed practically nothing and have been doing what I always did to change kernel and the versions.

on fixing installation problems in the README available on the Linux
       driver download page at www.nvidia.com.
If ur scared then best to go back to the 2.6.24.4 version and wait it out for ver. 173.08 of the nvidia driver As "Restored compatibility with recent Linux 2.6 kernels." might be the fix.

Unless anyone knows how to fix this besides downloading a BETA ver. of the driver let me and others who are having this same problem know a fix.

edit: seen sticky and i'll try the patches

Default Re: Driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86-169.12-pkg1.run & 2.6.25 not compatible

I tried the patch and using -k $(uname -r) and still no good on the current NON-BETA driver.
