Hello,
I use RH9 and motherboard 2thmax 8RDA+, with nVIDIA nForce lan build-in. The PC is configured as internal lan and crossover to another pc to internet. In RH9, I d/l the latest nForce .rpm driver, but cannot config eth0 successfully, please help. Error: "nvnet device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization" Add in /etc/modules.conf: alias eth0 nvnet options nvnet optimization=1 as indicated by the html documentation. I try modprobe nvnet; but modules seems not found. The same PC installed WIN and the land card can be properly setup. Matthew |

Hi all,
Please d/l and install from the tar ball instead: NVIDIA_nforce-1.0-0261.tar Install steps --------------- tar -xvzf NVIDIA_nforce-1.0-0261.tar cd nforce make make install nvnet.o should be created successfully. Now seems eth0 can be recognised even at startup. I will try more ..... |

I had problems installing from source. Typing "make" gave me multiple screens worth of error messages, so I began investigating.
On my virgin RedHat 9.0 installation (only added NTFS RPM), I found that the Makefile was trying to include libraries located at /lib/modules/2.4.20-8/build. However, the file is a symbolic link to /usr/include/linux-2.4.20-8. Since I didn't have the "Kernel Development" RPMs installed, this link was broken. After installing those files from the RedHat CDs, everything worked perfectly. Hope this helps out.
