There is an option to, but i've not tried it. In fact there are two; Le Mans and Le Mans 24Hr.

le mans 24hrs isnt quite 24hrs by default either. They generally revolve around 12 and 24 minutes. However.. if your a hardcore driver with an awesome setup and want a close experience.. you can dial the timer up to many ours, up to 24 hours. Also the light cycle seems to be early evening -> night -> dawn.

Also It seems only such a day/night cycle can occur on the ONE Le Mans 24hr track. It would really have been nice to see it on the cities too. Esp since I love the headlights in this game. I dunno if NFS carbon updated them, but NFS Underground 1/2 headlight wasn't all that realistic, and the game only rendered it for your car.

i did that once with GT on PSX, took me 4 days i think, pause during the race.

btw, got the game in mail today, its weird i'm having audio issues with retail when i enable hardware acceleration, there was no problem in the demo.

game runs and sounds great with hardware acceleration off, so its not a huge issues.

Most annoying thing for me is having the game and not being able to play it, had it since saturday now and refuse to play it on a keyboard because my wheel don't work you;d of thaught the 360 wireless wheel would work outta the box.

nekro, whats your sound card? I've heard from many who have the same issues (Some guy said he fixed it by having one of the sound applications that come with the driver open), luckly ive had zero crash issues and I have hardware accel turned on for my x-fi card.
