I see this card has an 8-pin and 6-pin power plug. Will there be a way to get an adapter from an exisiting 6-pin? I have an Enermax Galaxy 1000W so I know its got enough juice as its currently powering 2x8800GTX cards.

So what will happen if we only use 2x 6-pin connectors on the GTX 280? Will we still be able to use it without overclocking?

I donno, technically a 6 pin slot can only use a maximum of 75w. 2x6 pin a 75w + the card slot power at 75w = 225w total power using 2x6. GTX 280 is rumored to have a TDP of 236w+, so I dont think it would work, but I'm not sure how a 8 pin to 6 pin cable works. If it sends 8 pins worth of power over 6 pins, then it would be fine. If it downgrades to 6 pins max power, there could be a problem.

Make of it what you will. This was from that ORB guy at another message board. It was blurred out, but using PS, it's back to normal.

Not real impressive, but it looks more realistic than some of the numbers we've seen. ![]()

It's inline with what I've been hearing. But those graphs don't show any ingame settings though. Games that use more than 512 megs of ram would show a significant advantage on the 1 gig GTX280. It also would depend on the scaling of the 9800gx2.
Crysis at Very High can use more than 512 megs and so does a few other games in that list at resolutions of 1600x1200 and above.

From that graph looks like at 1600x1200 4xAA 16AF @ Crysis GTX 280 gets over 40 close to 50 and GX2 gets 30.
Well not very impressive but it does floor regular GTX or Ultra. ![]()
