For my new computer, I was originally considering the P35:
http://www.intel.com/products/mother...35DP/index.htm But someone pointed the P45 out to me, and it seems to be the same price for more features, and has PCIe 2.0. Is there a big difference between PCIe 2 and PCIe? Also, will I be able to use DDR2 800 ram with the P45? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130181 I'm getting the Q6600 proc. |

The Q6600 uses a 1066mhz FSB, and the P45 doesn't support that, so I don't know if the CPU would work in that mobo.
As for the difference in PCIE and 2.0, hell, we STILL don't use all the bandwidth afforded by AGP8x! From what I understand, you'll notice no difference in products today, and you'll likely be looking at PCIE 5.0 before we see a difference between 1.0 and 2.0. Yes, DDR2 800 will work on that P45. |

Odds are you won't really notice the P45's new features. The only one that really matters to me is the chipset process is down to 65nm (I think) which saves you a few watts over the P35.
