Yes, upgraded. The GTX280 is much smoother. But now come to think of it, maybe should have waited for the 4870/x2 results first.

Yeah, I heard it's August too, after 4870's release in July.

I'm going to do it. I still have 50 days left on my eVGA step up program, so I'm just waiting for the price to drop some. Don't know about the rest of you, but at 1920x1200 my GX2 micro stutters and it drives me crazy. Plus I have driver/game issues do to running dual GPU mode.

I agree that Crysis runs great on the GTX 280. The 1GB of RAM and 512-bit memory interface really come in handy. You won't experience those annoying lags or microstutters with the GTX 280. That alone makes the card worth the upgrade. Be aware that your FPS in many games may go down a bit, but your overall gameplay will be a LOT smoother.

Now that my GX2 is on it's way to EVGA, I'm surprised at how smooth the 8800 GTX feels in Crysis even at lower fps. Little late to the party I guess, everyone's been saying how great the 8800 GTX remains for the past couple months. This is making me even more excited about the 280, smoothness like this + GX2-like fps

I just did it, bought a GTX280 i was very skeptic about it if it would be better then my GX2.
IT IS MUSH BETTER!!!! its amazing that there can be that big difference in real life gaming, no more SLI for me. it just runs so much smother in every game. 280GTX runs not nearly as hot, my Asus ENGTX280 idels at 39c and is 64c running 3D Mark Vantage.

The gameplay experience is one thing a lot of reviewers fail to consider. Many of them evaluate a card almost solely on benchmark results. If you do that with the GTX 280, the card will disappoint. If you actually use the card, you'll be very pleased with the performance. No more stuttering in games like Crysis and COD4!!! That's reason enough alone to upgrade from a 9800 GX2!
