Wow, around 10-20% slower in general than the GTX280, and faster in a couple of tests. That's great performance for it's price...

That translation didn't work for me, here's a fixed one:
http://translate.google.com/translat...sl=zh-CN&tl=en Makes it a lot easier to navigate to whatever page. Still reading... Ok, first up, looks like the memory overclocks well, they got it up the the ATI CP max of 1100MHz, that's 4.4Ghz effective, and effective 800MHz overclock. Who knows how far the core will go past 790, I wouldn't want to push it without some software to speed up the fan myself. As for its performance, let's just call it a GTX 270. Awesome!

Great, great numbers. It beats the GTX 260 in almost every test (all except Lost Planet and FEAR), and sometimes even the GTX 280 when using high AA & AF at 1920x1200 (HL2 and Bioshock for example).
Even in Crysis it beats the 896 mb GTX 260, and they just tested the 512 Mb 4870!!! (I want to see the 1 Gb version tested under Crysis) Conclusion: about 20-25% faster than 4850, 5-10% faster than GTX 260, 10-15% slower than GTX 280. I say: IMPRESSIVE!!! I will wait for more benchs, but I think I'm turning red this time

Not bad! a ~10% avarage difference to the 280 .. i wonder if the 1GB version can do any better.

4870 is under half the price. Can't say I'm thinking about CUDA when looking at those benchmarks and comparing the prices...

I really fail to see how cuda could be such a big deal. ATi is working with Havok, Nvidia has physX, ATi has a folding client for the GPU and nvidia has a folding client for the GPU, so they match each other in almost every way.

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070219-8878.html Inpart: "Clearly, there are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches, and both approaches ultimately represent attempts by NVIDIA and AMD/ATI to get people who need this sort of GPU-driven math coprocessing power to standardize on one or the other vendor's hardware. Both of these moves are also about building an application base around existing GPU hardware before Intel moves into the market with whatever it's planning to unleash, so that Chipzilla (ideally) finds that the existing customers for GPUs-as-coprocessors are already tied to either AMD/ATI or NVIDIA."
