A lot of people misunderstand how the entire thing works. They want to focus on nothing but VRAM capacity instead of considering bandwidth. And the 4870 has about 50 GB/s more memory bandwidth than G80.

Juanlo do you have Splinter Cell double agent if you do can you confirm if its working correctly ? and a Rainbow Six vegas do i need to use hacks to enable AA?? like 8800gtx.. Thank you .

Well it works slow, just faster than on the GTX but unplayable at 1920x1200, only 25 FPS at the start of the game.

Sorry I don't have Double Agent. But I have Rainbow Six Vegas installed and have tested it for you. I haven't needed any hack, AA works beautifully (I have only forced it in CCC). Here you have an screenshot at 1920x1200 with 4xAA enhanced by Edge Detect filter (should be similar to 12xAA according to ATI CCC). And it's even playable with 38 FPS. This card is really, really amazing for €230.

4870 and GTX260 at the same price become equal values. Then people can buy either company and be happy.

I am a buy the best bang for my buck kinda guy which is why I took an 8800GT over the 3870 last year and this round I have the 4870 over the GTX260.

At the same price? I might have gone ATI just to throw them some love for giving the entire gaming community a high end part at a mid range budget. They deserve something for that. That's how I felt about the 8800GT last year too.

If someone wants to start a HD 4870/GTX 260 thread for user benches only, I'd be all for it. I'd say let HD 4850 and GTX 280 owners post in it too as long as they clearly label the results from said cards.

It would be good for folks to do like the OP and provide in game caps and FRAPS logs it they desire.

You know, I totally agree. I just bought a 4870 for their competition....I mean, look at nvidia drop their pants now (prices) that ATI has a good product, that's sick. I hated the super high prices nvidia was doing...maybe ATI would do the same thing (probably) if they were tops, but still, I have no problem supporting the underdog in the competition given that the overall result is much more affordable video cards.
