I haven't even owned this GTX 280 for a month, yet it looks to be left in the dust once the 4870 X2 is released in August. I've been a computer gamer since the early 80's, and I know how quickly technology changes, but this is utterly ridiculous. Even with the recent price cuts, the current GTX 280 looks to be a dead duck. I do love the performance of the card, but I thought it would take more time before the next greatest card would come and beat it. The 8800 GTX was on top for almost two YEARS, yet the GTX 280's reign will be limited to two MONTHS! I'm not so sure it's wise to invest in a top-performing video card anymore. Now that ATI and NVIDIA are at each other's throats again, the performance crown will go back and forth. Still, I like the idea of a single vs. SLI or dual-chip design as the single GPUs are free from those stuttering problems common in SLI and the 9800 GX2

Dont bury your EVGA Superclocked GeForce GTX 280 card, just RMA the dead card for a brand new replacement.

HD4870X2 is just crossfire of two HD4870 so your GTX280 is still fastest the card. If you want get another GTX280 run SLI and smoke the **** out of HD4870X2
![]() Dude, enjoy the card...it's amazing performer...

If there is something that i have learnt, it's that i must buy my hardware when i'm going to enjoy it. You can't live thinking about the future upgrades, cause always there is something new around the corner in computer's world.

Sorry, but I was being a little facetious here. The GTX 280 is going to be more than adequate to run the latest games for a while and will still be the fastest single-GPU available until the 55nm version arrives soon enough. I really like this card, despite its high price. A lot of times gamers get obsessed with having the fastest card out there. I have never bought the fastest available card at launch before. My 8800 GTS, 6800 GT and 5900 served me well. I'm hoping the GTX 280 will do the same.
