Default AMD hit with $880m impairment charge in Q2

http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/...5433927eee.htm

Both AMD and Nvidia faced very tough time for both HD 4800 and GT200 series GPUs not selling very well as expected due to slow demand in summer and very stiff competitive pricing.

ATI division not doing very well 6 months after the first massive $1.5bn impairment charge in Q4 2007 which slashed ATI $5.4bn value down to $3.9bn but I didnt expected another impairment charge 6 months later as I thought it assess once every year so it seemed it assess 2 times every year or every 6 months. The second impairment charge will cost AMD $880m in Q2 2008 that will slash ATI $3.9bn value to $3.02bn, with AMD stock hit $4.60 16 years low today since July 1992 valued the company at $2.7bn so that mean AMD is technically bankrupted with $5bn in debts.

AMD's CPU business is worthless.

He's our own personal ATI Death Knoll...

Athlon, you should just dress yourself in an Nvidia hoodie and stand outside ATI HQ with a sickel in your hand. We'll call you the "Green Reaper."
