Great choice, dude. Just refitted mine after removing water cooling and it works really well with the E8400. 8*C raise in temp from idle to load. It'll fit in some pretty tight spaces, too. The Striker II Formula is quite tight around the CPU area but it fitted fine... you should be OK too looking at your mobo pic . I'm yet to see a cooler that is of a better quality than this Noctua and the fan is simply the best fan you can get IMO. Go for it

do you think it will have clearance and not hit the roof by the PSU?

really hard to tell.

also do you install the heatsink portion out of the case or inside? i know i have to take the mobo out to install the backplate, but what about the second part?

what i am worried about is plugging in the 4 pin power adapter up in the upper left corner..how do you plug that in after once the heatsink is covering it? I am not a huge expert in this stuff first time i am attemping to do this

It can take a little dexterity but it's not that difficult, unless you have some real short fat fingers you should be fine.

The Noctua has good clearence all round for heatsinks, etc. You fit the backplate on the back of the mobo and a couple of brackets on the front, then the cooler screws to those brackets with two spring loaded screws which are easy to access. The cooler is quite tall but not huge and should fit in the vast majority of cases.

I'll measure the height of it when I get home tonight (about 10hrs from now) to confirm it'll fit in your case. If I forget, just PM me

I use AS5 or Céramique. I find Céramique is just as good at cooling but is thinner and spreads it's self out better. Either will be fine .

ok i got AS5 and the Noctua today

will probably install over weekend when i have more time to devote


right now i am getting cpu temps of 50-52 at full load running prime 95 with no overclocking


will be interesting to see what i get after i install this

No doubt. Im getting ~40-42*C idle/56-58*C load, but thats a Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz (and with a TRUE-120)!
