looking to possibly upgrade my current receiver to something that supports HDMI because I have run out of HDMI ports on mt TV, and optical ports on my receiver. I have a yamaha one that's close to 5 years old that has served me well.
Thoughts?

If you want to have a good receiver for the money - go with the Onkyo TX-SR606 or Yamaha RX-V663.
The Sony STR-DG820 should also be in the same price class, so one of these three should provide you with enough inputs for your HT setup and support for both dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD.Onkyo 140w/channel - Yamaha 145w/channel - Sony 100w/channel.

wish the yamaha one had more hdmi inputs than it does. Right now I have a blu-ray player and a pc hooked up via hdmi, and the 360 using vga. I suppose seeing how the pc only needs video, that I can keep it connected straight to the tv if I have replace my 360 with one that has hdmi on it.

If your lcd supports 1080p over vga I doubt it wouldn't support 1080p over component as well.

I'm actually interested in both this Onkyo and this YAMAHA reciever. If I had my way I'd purchase both recievers.
They have more than enough connections for practically anything. Though they might be out of your price range. I didn't notice any place you specified how much you're wanting to spend... ![]() |
