Nvidia needs a 280 GX2 with 2 gig's DDR5 and powersupply requirments for only 650Watts or less. Just 2 8 Pin Connectors.

Rosewill 950W for $150. It has 2x6pin and 2x8pin cables. It really good quality PSU. Had Rosewill 850W 4x6pin cables, worked like charm and it still works great.

Like i said i'm still considering it, but 4870x2 would cost me 550, i don't want 512 frame buffer

but also those other points still are valid

Based on ATI history in driver and HD3870X2 support.

Its probably 5 years old now, but I still haven't found a reason to pay $600 for an LCD that has a lower max resolution and looks like crap at anything but that resolution.

If this thing ever dies on me I'll invest in a good LCD... or maybe I'll just bust out my old 19" NEC CRT. That thing will still do 2048x1536 @ 60Hz.

How was the shipping not over $150 by itself?!

Frame-buffer is overrated when it comes to the ATI lineup.

Now check these out, up to 60 FPS at 2560x1600 with 24X CF ADAA enabled and the Texture Pack installed, just flat out impressive...

We all know AA was broken with the Radeon HD 3000 series. Well, it is broken no more, AMD has fixed AA performance well, and not only that, but they’ve offered up a new mode which doesn’t even tax memory bandwidth at all called Custom Filtering AA.

With the enormous shader power present with Radeon HD 4870 X2 and CrossFireX we were more than able to utilize 12X and 24X CFAA modes in Age of Conan. Also, as we saw, we could easily run with these modes in older games like Oblivion and Call of Duty 4. Who would have thought we’d ever be seeing Oblivion at 2560x1600 with 24X AA? This means you can load up old games and set crazy high AA settings. AMD deserves huge kudos for really kicking AA up a notch. They have made high levels of AA playable at high resolutions. We are talking about free 8X AA at 1920x1200 with the Radeon HD 4870 X2

At 1920x1200 we were playing Age of Conan at the highest settings possible on the ATI hardware, 24X CFAA plus Adaptive AA with the highest in-game settings. At 2560x1600 we were able to turn on 8X AA plus Adaptive AA as well, providing better image quality than GTX 280 SLI.

If you like running AA, then you should like the 4870 or 4870x2. Frame-buffer be damned--it is just not as important if you can use other means to implement AA with.

Wow, my 8800 GTS must be worthless by now

I guess I'll keep it and use it for a 2nd PC when I order the 280.
