any chance you could run the same test at 1680x1050? if your monitor supports that res.

How does that 1920x1200 test measure up to 8800gtx/gtx 260? Anyone have numbers?

Sure, will do it tomorrow. And I will post numbers of the Cuban-Ultima-Doom special cfg, that's the one I'm using (a mix between high and very high, but faster than high)

I recommend Cuban Ultima Doom customizer, the quality is higher than Crysis high level, and it's faster (it enables "godrays" in DX9). It includes ToD mod that provides a much better light

Nice work LoardJuanlo, Thanks.
It probably would have got more exposure in the Other Desktop Graphics Cards Forum, I almost missed it here.

Thumbs up Re: My 8800GTX vs 4870 tests

Hello I am new to this forum. I must say impressive results there on the 4870. I have a 8800GTX desktop myself and is planning on buying a 4870.

But now to something more interesting. I own a XPS M1730 laptop with a T7700 Core2Duo 2.4GHz, 4GB 667 MHz Ram DDR2, 320gb RAID-0, 8800m GTX SLI 96 SPīs overclocked to Core 625 / Shaders 1500 / Mem 950.

Now first I have and this is no lie, I run Crysis patched to 1.2 and in Vista 32 with 177.79 drivers. I ran the benchmark GPU test. Compare these scores to your 4870 this also running at 1920x1200 on my SLI notebook DX10 all options Very High, no tweaks to any Cvars or any autoexec.cfg to boost any fps. Not to brag or anything but most people donīt think a notebook can compete with desktop rigs. Sure they are expensive as hell but as can be seen have some serious performance too.

GPU benchmark and the Island level.

Hi Magnus72, and welcome to nvnews forums. I must say you have an impressive notebook, and I don't want to know how many $$$ you paid for it , a notebook with SLI 8800GTX just makes me drool.

Right now I'm considering to re-run all those benchmarks again with a 4870x2, and adding some insane 24xAA numbers... but first I must get one card, I'm really happy with the 4870 but I could sell it for a good money, so getting the x2 wouldn't be very expensive.

I must think about it

nice work mate
i must agree with others the HD4870 i s agreat card even as a single card it packs great value.

so i must say i sold my 8800Ultra for this card and i donīt regret it a bit.

now i wait for an opportunity to get me another one or perhaps a 4870X2 to make things even faster
