Default 1.0-4496 crashes when started

Hi guys,

I recently upgraded my workstation's (a Dell Precision 340, 2.0 GHz P4) Quadro 4 700 XGL (or was it 750?) to a (Creative 3DBlaster) Geforce FX 5900 Ultra. The computer is running Redhat Linux 7.3 + all updates.

I was previously using the 1.0-4363 drivers, but since X didn't come up with the new card I had to re-upgrade (I had tried the 1.0-4496 drivers before, with my Quadro 4 card, without success).

Unfortunately, the new drivers didn't work with the FX 5900 Ultra either. The system log says the driver tried to de-reference a NULL pointer and a register dump follows.

Has anybody experienced anything similar, and if so, did you find a workaround?

I really, really need to get this card working, since I'm writing pixel shaders at work and the NV30 emulation on the Quadro 4 is quite painful ...

Please help.

PS. Success stories are welcome too. For example, is anybody running a similar configuration but with Redhat 9.0? If an upgrade will help, then I'm fine with that (even if I'd prefer not to right now).

And here is /var/log/XFree86.0.log. At the time the log was written, I had disabled AGP, software cursor and display devices, without any change in behaviour.

Hi,
I am using RH7.3 with all updates, and I fixed this problem, the problem is with a wrong nvidia.o, just recompile it and replace the wrong one.
It's a installer bug.
