Okay, uh.. I'm a bit of a Linux noob so dont be treating me like i know everything..
I managed to install the driver with no complaints from the installation. But now it says that GLX doesn't work on display 0:0 when it starts the X server. So when i try to run apps that use graphics acceleration, it wont accelerate, you know.. I'm using Geforce FX 5600 (256mb) and its on Mandrake Linux 9.1 Please help.. ![]()

Hi. I'm also a linux newbie, and it's unlikely I will be able to solve your problem.
But, there's even less chance of being able to help you unless you post more information. I assume that you have made the required mods to XF86Config (or similarly named file) as per the README for the installer. I.e. set the driver of the video display to 'nvidia', include 'load glx' and get rid of 'load dri' and 'load GLcore' from the modules section of same. Then, of course you need to restart X before the changes take effect. What happens if you restart your X server and then type 'modprobe nvidia'? You should (I believe) get no output at all from that command. Can you post again attaching the following files to your message. (i) the file /var/log/XFree86.0.log (ii) the output you get when you type the command 'glxinfo'. No guarantee I'll be able to help even if you do this.

You can change the keyboard langauge via /etc/X11/XF86Config. You need to change the XbkLayout in the "Keyboard section". Mine looks like this:
Identifier "Keyboard0" Driver "keyboard" Option "XkbRules" "xfree86" Option "XkbModel" "pc105" Option "XkbLayout" "us" ![]() |
