Default Do you get overheating issues with your REPLACEMENT GTX 200 card?

This poll is a follow-up to the sticky. For those of you who received a replacement GTX 280 due to overheating issues, are you still experiencing them?

I replaced my eVGA GTX 280 through a direct RMA, and the new card is working perfectly. In response to this thread, please indicate if you did an RMA through the card manufacturer or the retailer from whom you purchased it.

This is in an effort to gauge how companies are responding to these complaints. In reading the sticky thread, it seems that eVGA is doing better to solve these issues the first time an RMA is needed. Folks with BFG cards are appearing to have more trouble.

My replacement direct from eVGA is working great, never had it go over 75c yet but i could prob get it into the 80's if i ran furmark for a long time.

Well I can tell you that all EVGA cards are pre-tested, you shouldn't see this anymore.

No kidding.. what the hell happened ?

I can live with the fact that parts may have problems from time to time, but
Nvidia or any of their partners have not released an official statement
acknowledging what the hell was going on with the overheating issues.........

the revision number on the card itself is different, since EVGA cross shipped i was able to compare the two.

the cooler cards are a ever so slightly newer rev. (at least mine was)

Here's my post from another forum.

Quote:
It's a different card, brand new one, with the exact same issue. It hit 100C in less than a minute during the Furmark bench.

It took maybe two minutes in the GRID menu to hit 103C, & then worse in game.

Same exact little artifacts, stuttering/chugging as a result.

I messaged DC about getting a refund...but then i realized i am screwed, since the replacement card is a different serial number than what's on the box (BFG doesn't send new boxes).
So they will reject the refund i already know.

So i'm pretty much screwed.

I phoned BFG & sat on hold for about an hour...

But then i got the sweetest talking customer service girl on the phone lol.

I learned that my previous RMA was nothing more than a replacement.
They basically just sent a new one my way without checking anything. (hence why i got another bad one).

For this second RMA they are paying the shipping & it's going to the US somewhere where they will actually test the card & supposedly test the new one as well.

So i'll be without it for another couple weeks at least, & then i've got a great chance of getting another defective one back, since i doubt they will actually test my replacement.
There are people on nVnews who have gotten four cards bad so far, or others, three.

I pretty much expect to get another bad one back, but i'll keep sending them back.
My feelings = + +

I'm still waiting for BFG to get back to me with the prepaid shipping thing via email...

Gainward falls into the "other brand" category as they're not sold in North America any more. The specific poll options (Asus, eVGA, BFG, and MSI) represent what are generally the most popular brands.

everyone here is not from North America. Gainward is simply not that popular anymore. They used to be very long time ago.
