opensource the drivers
Have you ever thought to opensource the detonator drivers?
I've read Eric Raymond's book The Cathedral and the Bazaar. He thinks that makers of hardware should opensource their drivers. He believes that by doing so their competitors will fall into a trap to try to reverse engineer and duplicate the code into their own but with a terrible effect to stall their future product releases. He believes that the competitors will waste too much time and money and they won't be focused to improve their product.
Yet if such a thing can't be done then he recommends as an alternative to embed the drivers and open source an interface.
Have you made any similar thoughs over nvidia?
