Default Re: 1080i Resolution unused by nvidia-auto-select on 60-inch HDTV, [ Sony KDS-R60XBR1

I also have the problem with 1080i outputing stretched, only showing the first 540 lines on the screen. I am on Ubuntu 7.04. I had the hardware previously outputing 1080i wonderfully on KnoppMyth using an older NVidia driver.

After hours of struggling I have it working, at least temporarily. The solution for me was to use nvidia-settings to set the resolution, and not the Ubuntu preferences. I tried this because the Ubuntu preferences always lists 50Hz for the refresh, and xrandr was saying the same.

I hope this information helps someone else out there. Tomorrow I will figure out how to make the settings stick.

For me something went wrong with the 100.14.19. My 1080i 32" panel doesnt work anymore with previously working xorg.conf. Till (including) 100.14.11 it works well. Bad thing especially because 100.14.19 improved opengl performance too much. Maybe Ill have to tweak around something again...sh.t.

Hi Vinny,

I have a very similar setup..

Display: 50-inch rear projection 1080i, HDTV, Sony KDS-R50XBR1.
Card: GeForce 7600 GS, DVI to HDMI.
Box: AMD64, Linux Fedora 7.

With the cure I found, the only thing that matters is the TV Model. This will not work with any other brand, and it may only work with the KDS-R50XBR1, though I suspect it will also work with the KDS-R60XBR1. Anyway you can give it a try. See attachment.

Good luck.

Hi dburdick (or anyone else with a Sony KDS-R50XBR1),

Thanks for the overscan solution doc.

Would you mind sharing your xorg.conf file as well? Apparently I need to spec modes and frequencies to get Mythbuntu 8.04 to work over an HDMI/DVI connection, but I don't know what parameters to use.

thanks!

My Setup:
Nvidia 7200 GS
DVI to HDMI cable
Sony KDS-R50XBR1 TV
Mythbuntu 8.04-1
