Good for EA, and glad to see they are learning from others mistakes.

That part I'm not sure of. They may not have to... they may only have to sue the person who's in care or charge of the computer. In recent history, though, I think the record companies have only sued people who are clear violators (sharing thousand upon thousands of copyrighted files) and it's easy to identify who was at the keyboard. But I agree, it's a sticky situation.

In Canada it's case law that an ISP does not have to divulge the personal information of a user for copyright infringement. Doesn't mean they won't, but they are under no obligation to.

I think these guys just wanted some free advertising for their pinball game( This was major news!?), EA doesn't need to do that I guess.

Mine never gives me any problems.
i have comcast, no trouble here.

before i had DLS, a small local ISP. they actually disconnected me once. but not because of torrents, torrents where not even around back then.

Once a month or so, I upload family videos and pictures to my FTP server, and then send out e-mail to family members in Poland, German, UK, Canada and Australia to take a look if they wanted to.

that was the reason why they disconnected me, uploading huge files to FTP sites was not allowed. worst ISP I ever had.

That was gay.

reminds me of back in the day when I released my music for free online on my homepage, at one point i used crosswinds.net as they really did allow unlimited space, not just for html documents ... anyways, soon after I got an angry mail about me having Mp3's on my homepage. In the end though, it was no problem, as I was the original copyright holder. I just needed there premission first so they know what's going on.

Where do you live that you had DLS? Because I had DLS at one point as well because Comcast nor DSL was available and they had their 10/10 wireless and they would throttle me all the time.
