Default fedora 9 x64 nvidia x errors on en7900gs in sli

i've been running on default nv driver so far, and decided to try livna's nvidia drivers. after they didn't work i've uninstalled them and tried official nvidia driver, still no joy.

uname -r
2.6.25.11-97.fc9.x86_64

/sbin/lspci | grep -i vga
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G71 [GeForce 7900 GS] (rev a1)
07:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G71 [GeForce 7900 GS] (rev a1)

yum installed:
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia x86_64 173.14.12-1.lvn9 livna 3.1 M
Installing for dependencies:
kmod-nvidia x86_64 173.14.12-2.lvn9 livna 23 k
kmod-nvidia-2.6.25.11-97.fc9.x86_64 x86_64 173.14.12-2.lvn9 livna 2.6 M
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs x86_64 173.14.12-1.lvn9 livna 5.7 M

upon reboot - nvidia kernel module loaded ok, but X didn't start with the following message - no screens found:

You need to post a bug report from when you have the nvidia driver installed (and attempted to start X). However your Xorg.{0,1}.log shows the error:

Quote:
(II) Primary Device is:
(EE) No devices detected.
With SLI you need to specify the PCI device ID for each card. So, your xorg.conf will need two "Device" sections (one for each card), with different PCI ids (in your case: 02:00.0 and 07:00.0).

The drivers come with a utility called nvidia-xconfig which will generate a xorg.conf file for you. Have a look at "Appendix W. SLI and MultiGPU FrameRendering" of the documentation included with the drivers for more information.

i've already submitted the bug report on 08/25/2008 02:33 PM but did not receive any confirmation or anything like this.
thanks i'll try to manually specify the id's for the cards tonight and will post back with results.

When I say "post a bug report", I mean attach it to a forum post so that we can see it.

I logged a bug report for my Dell XPS 8700M SLi problem. X doesn't start on it because the kernel module doesn't seem to be receiving any interrupts from the first of the GPUs. SLi works fine on the 173. drivers. Again, no-one viewed my bug report so I don't know if SLi just doesn't work or what. But it does consistently fail for both 177. releases.

Thank you, that was it. I did dmesg | grep video, that produced: pci 0000:07:00.0: Boot video device
so i've added BusID "PCI:07:00:0" to the config and everything worked out.
