Can't you use VLC or something for streaming?

As far as I understand, WMP11 can do this only through Vista's Media Center Extender?

Then using VLC (which is free btw) for streaming in XP, makes the reason #14195 to go Vista null and void.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Your wrong. DNLA streaming is not officially implemented in VLC yet. Though it would be great if it was, maybe it could transcode my mkv files on the fly (or maybe sony should hurry up with that firmware update that will allow ps3 to use mkv files! GoGo dvix7).

Besides. . . even if there are other 3rd party software suites that do this . . . You can't discredit the feature. This trendy bashing of vista is getting really old.

Ok thanks. Oh and I'm not bashing it, to each his own. It's just that for me there's absolutely no/zero/nada reasons to switch from XP.
