Default GeForce 9800M GT driver support

Is the new GeForce 9800M GT (new mobile GPU) supported by the currently released driver or beta driver? The beta driver includes the 9800M GTS in the list of supported GPUs, but not the 9800M GT. If it isn't supported, how long will it be until a driver is released with support for it?

Your 9800GTS is not the same thing as a 9800M GT

This thread is the 1st result with google when searching for "9800M GT linux"

Would be nice if there was some word on this.

The 9800M GT (PCI ID: 060B ) still is not supported.
Yet a lot of the other similar GPUs in it's family are...

Angry Re: GeForce 9800M GT driver support

So.... when is this card going to get supported? It's very frustrating right now, I can't use Linux as my main OS on this laptop because there is no power management for this card. nvidia-detector says there isn't an nvidia graphics card installed, performance is poor, switching to virtual terminals from X doesn't work. I don't understand why the 9800M GTS and the 9800GT are supported and not the 9800M GT.

Seems it may be supported in the latest 180.18 Beta.
According to the readme: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li...ppendix-a.html

I'll have to give it a try After the holiday season is over and I have the time.
I may be finally switching over my main Laptop over to Linux..

It gained official support in at least as early as 180.16. However, that support is in name only, functions such as brightness control still don't work, nor does PowerMizer (although that seems to be a problem across the board at the moment, cards never go higher than level 1).

Are there still issues with the text terminals (such as when hitting: Ctrl+Alt+F1)?

These used to be completely blank and unusable.
This is the main issue I would like to see resolved with the 9800M GT

Nope. Virtual Terminals still don't work.

Are you sure that it really has 1 GB dedicated VRAM ?

This card is still not working correctly in Ubuntu 9.04

Virtual Terminals are black. ACPI interfaces to the card don't work (No backlight adjustment). Powermizer is still stuck at Level 0/1. Nvidia, this card came out more than six months ago. Your documentation claims that this card is supported, but that is clearly not the case. If a developer can contact me, I am willing to work with them, run tests, and provide any required information so I can finally see some support for this card.

185.18.08 fixes Powermizer for me (though I've got some new performance problems with VDPAU...). I still have black consoles though, and brightness keys still don't work (/proc/acpi/video/ is empty).
