Yay!

Official Feedback for Spore here guys! Add it to your list Nekro!

BTW the game doesn't have AA options in game, but like the Creature Creator you can just force AA. I haven't run into issues yet apart from a sizeable FPS hit.

I noticed the graphics options were a bit thin. I just set everything to max and started playing. I got to the end of the cell stage before i had to turn it off last night, i'll get on to the creature stage tonight. I didn't even notice the lack of AA, but that might be due to the 2D graphics in the cell stage, which are very cool. Had no problems with the EA servers, created my account. I have no idea what it does or how it works but i'm sure i'll figure out the online part of it sooner or later.

Thank god there is a ban function. The game basically streams in random creatures from the net, as it seems every second creature is a penis.

I'm in the creature phase right now. There is a cool unique dragon flying around that give a huge bonus if I hunt it. I'm building up my pack right now. ::

LOL

That's hilarious... I'm surprised that they aren't pre-filtering things before they're put online.

Sounds awesome! If I read a few positive (80%+) reviews of this game I'll probably go out and buy it.

How do the flying creatures work anyway? I only had the trial version of the creature creator but if I didn't give something legs it just sort of floated above the ground.

I think I'm going to get the Direct2Drive version of the game. Looks really awesome, glad it turned out so well. Just now downloaded the creature creator.

IGN's closing comments...

Quote:
I think that Maxis has made an impressive product that does so many incredible things. Spore will serve as an introduction to gaming for many; it's clear that many nontraditional gamers will check it out. As such, this feels sort of like a sampler plate to gaming, introducing newcomers to the different types of gameplay out there. But much more than that, Spore will make you think about science, and when was the last time you could say that about a game? It'll inspire people to learn more about the universe and imagine what's possible out there. Spore also pushes the idea of user-generated content to incredible new heights; this is a game where users will make the vast majority of things that you encounter, and this creation and sharing is done seamlessly.

Yet while Spore is an amazing product, it's just not quite an amazing game. I can't help but feel that Spore is ambitious and memorable, but I also admit that, save for the cool Space Stage, there's not a lot of depth here. Rookie gamers are going to feel at home here, but veteran gamers may feel like they need more. Still, Spore proves to be one of the most unique products in recent memory, one that reaches for the stars and ends up giving us a universe in a box.
Sort of what I was afraid of.
