NVIDIA says it will win back performance leadership this year

I rarely use SLI-AA 8x unless I'm really performance constrained and then I'd usually prefer to drop down a resolution first, I usually run either SLI-AA 16x or SLI-AA 32xQ modes.

I personally feel there is room for another SLI-AA mode in between 16x and 32xQ.

SLI 16x 8x CSAA + 2x SLI SS
SLI 32xQ 16xQ CSAA + 2x SLI SS

You could potentially add a mode like this:
16x CSAA + 2x SLI SS
and call it SLI-AA 32x. Would be a nice compromise when SLI-AA 32xQ is too much to handle.

The information on that webpage is only correct for the SLI 8x mode. All the other SLI 8x implementations are exclusive to the Geforce 7 series. SLI 32xQ is is 16xQ CSAA with the 1x2 SS component. While SLI 64S ((OpenGL)) has more texture samples taken. With the geforce 8 the way SLIAA was done has been changed,

One more suggestion Chris, I'd ask you to pass on to nvidia.

Some older games don't like the combined 32xS mode (or anything with an 8x MSAA component), example; Severance: Blade of Darkness. However, they work fine with 16xS.

I'd suggest the creation of a coverage sample based combined AA mode, so that instead of 2x2 SSAA + 8x MSAA you would have 2x2 SSAA + 8x CSAA or 2x2 SSAA + 16x CSAA.

Hopefully the older games would see the CSAA as 4x MSAA (all CSAA modes are based on 4x MSAA + coverage samples).

I am glad ATI(AMD) came out with a video card that is faster then the GTX280 even if it does has two GPU's.It sure helped the prices go down on nvidia products.I think they thought the GTX 280 was going to be a lot faster then what ATI came out with .The GTX280 is a hugh chip with 1.4billion transistors,I wonder what the actual cost is to produce a GTX280.

The 4870X2 and GTX280 are not comparable products, although they are both single slot graphics solutions. The 4870X2 has a plethora of Crossfire baggage in tow that a GTX280 does not:
1. Need to re-name executables in many games to use AA. This causes the loss of any game specific patch or optomization.

2. Need to wait for profiles for new games, because you cannot create them with CF. (or edit them)

3. Microstutter

4. Much higher cost and power consumption

Besides that, you lose PhysX and the chance to upgrade to a stereoscopic monitor with ATi cards.

What it costs NVIDIA to make a GTX280 is irrelevant to us as end users, what they cost in the store is all that matters.

Nothing I said was untrue, it's pretty widely held knowledge about the limitations of Crossfire and ATi parts.

There's a thread on Rage3d in the driver forum with a bunch of games listed that you need to rename the executable to get AA. Reviews of the 4870X2 have shown it still microstutters when the fps get down in the 30-40fps range. X2s cost more than GTX280s and a visit to any etailer will show that, and it sort of makes sense 2 GPUs consume more power. ATi has never allowed users to see what games are profiled, or create/edit profiles.

You either need to look up the definition of "FUD" because you don't understand what it really is, provide links to prove why you believe what I said is FUD, or most likely, slink away in shame because you wasted people's time with your baseless accusations.

Check it out, it seems that AMD/ATI has/had their own type of secret "marketing" folks.
In fact , since the current gen was released it appears that there are many of same posting at various forums, all in the guise of "regular users".
