Post No SLI in current testing Ubuntu Intrepid

Current Xorg: 1.4.99.906 (1.5.0 RC 6)
Hardy Xorg: 1.4.0.90
Driver in Intrepid: 177.70
Driver in Hardy: 169.12

I'm running a up-to-date testing install of Ubuntu Intrepid & have run
into a interesting problem--namely that nVidia SLI won't work. In the
prior Ubuntu system (8.04--Hardy) I had no problems adding the Option
"SLI" "auto" to my section in xorg.conf & I thought that the same would
hold true for Intrepid. Instead, I get a Xserver fail with both devices
found but not tied with SLI.

I can provide xorg logs from both my normal Hardy install with a SLI
startup & the failure in Intrepid using the same xorg.conf. If there is
another way to enable SLI using the minimum conf file, please send me a
link.

Thanks!!

Please generate and attach nvidia-bug-report.log files with and without the SLI option enabled. Also, please try setting the SLI option to "AFR" or "SFR" rather than "auto".

Thank you Aaron--

How do I setup the nvidia-bug-report.logs?

Attaching the fail xorg log--do you want the normal xorg log from 8.04?

Aaron--I have also posted to the Xorg-developers list & hope to get some answers from them today...I might be posting a Xorg bug due to the fact that I feel that this is a regression from the prior Xserver. Please contact me as to setting up nVidia backtracing & I will generate the logs you need ASAP.

I will keep this thread updated with info as I get it.

Post Re: No SLI in current testing Ubuntu Intrepid

Last report done with "bulletproof" X xorg.conf--only change is to add nVidia driver & SLI option.

Xorg.conf:

# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Post Re: No SLI in current testing Ubuntu Intrepid

I have posted bugreports with Xorg & Ubuntu--all cross-linked:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...rg/+bug/267525

Also contacted the Ubuntu Developer that maintains nVidia drivers.

This looks like a regression in the Xserver--waiting for more info.

Alberto Milone (Ubuntu maintainer) found the problem--buss # needed to be defined.

Revised xorg.conf for 1.5.0 Xserver included.
