Ok CCC crashes on me, so that rules it out I guess. Gonna try Mster's config then.. does it have POM turned off by default?

Ah damnit every link to the texture upgrade is down except for the rapidshare one which is split on 20 files each and only allowed you to download 1 at a time - at 30kb/s, which is an hour pr. file. I don't have 20 hours on my hand
![]() Guess I'm gonna go ahead and try mster's config standalone then..

I just tried Mster Config 3.01. Most aspects of day scenes are really good. But there's also some things I don't like. I'm gonna quote some forum users on Cry Mod because they state it perfectly:

On the other hand it looks good in the distance: Also I don't like the fact that there is no moon lightning or at least light shafts from the moon in Mster's config. That's simply too cheap, it's a must in night scenes. Now for a few shots of CCC. I like nearly everything about CCC (and btw I get same performance in CCC lvl 6+TOD as I do with Mster 3.01) except the sunrise that is simply too red, the overall exaggerated sharpness of the image, though I like the colors. Except that too many scenes are looking too green in Crysis with CCC lvl6. For instance here is the water from the first level too green IMO (compare with Mster above): All in all I'm still undecided, I was hoping that there would be a real almost flawless badass config out at this point, but it looks like I'm gonna have to go back and look at my own old 1.01 config and see how it compares.. Oh missing the pictures, I forgot that FRAPS was set to bmp and now the screens are too large to upload and I'm too lazy to compress them or take new ones.. oh well.

Ok the above post was a bit of a mess. What I mean is that I hate the water effect in Mster's config, the lack of moonlight shafts and in general the night scene, where CCC is way too sharp and a bit too color-filled/distorted as well, though many aspects of it looks pretty. For example the black/white and really dark night of CCC is really cool, perhaps making it a tad bit lighter would be perfect then. And Jmanrob's Extreme Quality config is pretty good but notably slower than CCC and Mster.
If only CCC would turn down the color/sharpness exaggeration a little bit and make the night a wee tad brighter. If only Mster would fix his water, moon/night and give a bit of drawdistance. If only Jmanrob would perform small tweaks to make it just a liiiitle bit more playable, and turn down the bloom effect just a little bit. Then we'd have three excellent configs, one for each temper. But now I'm just not sure what I like the best

Ok I have finally settled for Mster's config since the quality/performance was probably the best. CCC had nearly identical performance, but they just exaggerated the colors/bloom too much for my taste, making many scenes (though not all) looking too unnatural.
I'm gonna try to fix the issues I have with Mster's config manually then but editing it where necessary, though I'd rather touch it as little as possible. Really need to fix the water and the night. Will ask question here if I need help and let you know of my progress ![]()

I agree with all what you said, on the other configs with custom tod's. I like the water effects of ccc's tod, but their lighting is just to exaggerated. I tried my config with their tod it enhances the water quality even futher, just can't deal with that yellow tint. Im thinking of making a custom tod only to acheive subtle lighting changes and enhanced water effects. |

I just realized that the horrible night scenes in Mster's config is related to the maps themselfs (or rather the updated version of them), not the autoexec itself. Damnit, so I cannot it. Back to scratch.
The next best choice is jmanrob's config I guess. I just want more performance, even if it means compromising on some goodies. If I could just have either better performance in Jmanrob's Extreme Config and perhaps with the HDR and colors tuned a bit for a little more vividity/bright image without exaggerating it like CCC or Mster's Config with fixed night/clouds/water/10% less sunshaft/HDR, I'd be a happy man.. But both Jmanrob should just stick the the highend/low performance premise of the config so it doesn't wander too far from it's original purpose. Perhaps we should just have his Extreme Config as a "screenshot config" and leave it up to Mster to fix his config. BTW Jmanrob I just noticed the "lite" version of your config, what is the difference exactly? How much watered down is it? Also do you use have object blur in the Extreme Config? I heard that effect in particular should be very demanding, something like 3-4 FPS.

Hmm all the vegetation looks too bright?? It doesn't look like that from all the screenshots I've seen in the Extreme thread on crymod either
