The bottom one, Extreme Config, all the vegetation on the mountain looks way too bright and bland, too indistinguishable from eachother, doesn't look like anything I've seen from other Extreme screenshots either.
On the other hand the top picture is too messy with the colors, although the real drawbacks of this approach CCC takes looks much worse in other scenes - for example in the chasing scene immediately following the end of level one where the demo ended. In any case I don't think it'd help me spending anymore time just reading forums, the choice is clearly between Extreme config and Mster's config now, I just have to play around some more with both.. and in any case I'm surely gonna use rygel's texture mod! BTW Jmanrob what is up with the blurry mountaintop in Extreme mod, being more sharp and refined in CCC? Are you sure that Extreme mod was applied properly when you took those screens? ![]()

After experimenting a bit back and forth I've really come to like Mster's config. EXCEPT any annoying blurriness to all edges that is evident on all medium and long ranges. Here a couple of screens:
Here Mster's Config 3.01: ![]() Here Extreme Mod 1.31: ![]() Anyone knows how to remove that blurryness?

Yeah but I can't do an HP vs MSTER becuase HP's mod destroys my crysis installation for some reason. It doesn't uninstall properly.
What I can offer are a couple of comparo shots of vanilla vs my tweaked config which I used some of GACO's help and tweaks along with some of my own SSAO shadow tweaks vs HP's config (which is similar to my old one that was similar to HP's only it didn't have the over the top HDR bloom and glow.) Vanilla ![]() HP ![]() Mine ![]() Vanilla ![]() HP ![]() Mine ![]() Vanilla ![]() HP ![]() Mine ![]() Keep in mind that this isn't the most recent version of HP's mod. It was one of the older ones and I'm sure it's gone through some changes but from the screenshots I've seen of the most up to date ones, little has changed as far as blurry fluffy grass blades, over blown HDR and entirely too dark shadowed areas. Mster config doesn't have any of these problems and gives you an extra 10 fps. Personally, I don't see how anyone could use anything else unless they just HAVE to have every last bit of eye candy turned on.

FastRedPonyCar (what an annoyingly long name to spell - do you wanna be called "fast", "red", "pony", "car", "fast pony", "fast car", "red pony", "red car" or what?
), are you sure that Mster's config is so superior regarding performance? I don't know about previous versions of his config, but his latest 3.01 is pretty damn demanding if you ask me. Gives me less performance than my own 1.01 config and probably less than you too. Gives me 20-30 FPS mostly, rarely much above 30, see my spec. Perhaps you need to test it again?

hmmm... that's wierd. Nah man 39~40 fps in the GPU benchmarks. (before rygel textures)
Rygel textures drop fps down to mid 30's. Oh and "Drew" works ![]() Do a code or quote paste of your config file and I'll try it out in a little bit when I get home just to make sure no one slipped some crazy pills into my water bottle here at work.

And that is with Mster's config 3.01 the quality one, not performance + the modified levels? That is weird..

Thx Red! good compare. Your's look more balanced. However, i said wrong. I meant Gaco, not red... to make additionally 2 shots from the same location as the two picture on the top with the vanilla config and if you can with HP too. Gaco can you manage that please?
Btw, i know how to remove the blurriness, just remove e_depthOfField 2 and put 1 instead. But perhaps you meant something else? Anyway mster's looks better than the extreme one in those pics, but i'd like to do a final comparision with the vanilla and also HP's if oppertunity is allowed! |
