Question Multiple AGP boards and the Linux Driver

I am looking for a MotherBoard that has 4 AGP buses. I would like to load up all four buses with four NVIDIA graphics cards, to support 4 different monitors that will run 4 different high end OpenGL applications independently. My question is, will the Linux driver support these four AGP cards in this configuration?

I don't want to disappoint you but although it is possible with AGP8x to produce motherboards with multiple AGP buses none exist. There are boards that can both use an integrated gpu and one in the AGP slot but there are no boards with multiple slots. (haven't heard of them ...)

In the near future AGP will be replaced by pci-express. Then it will be possible again to use multiple highend cards but this won't help you right now.

Have you already considered a Quadro NVS400 board? It basicly is one videocard containing two seperate cards. In total one card can drive for screens. (using twinview or that new way using which you can turn one card into two cards ..)

Check out pny's board: http://www.pny.com/products/quadro/nvs/400Nvs.asp

(not much companies produce quadro cards, only PNY and Elsa)

I do not promise anything, but perhaps www.supermicro.com makes these dual agp boards...but I have not seen any dual agp motherboards, never.

I am also disappointed, if there are no dual agp motherboads at all...

I think this card is for you...it should support 4 monitors if I am right...check from the Nvidia quadro brochure...

Thank you Tommi,

I'll look these things over and see if they can help me in some way. I appreciate your response.
