Default Re: So why should I buy a GTX280 again?

The mere suggestion that a single GTX280 outperforms a 4870x2 is plain stupid. Maybe in a couple of scenarios where the 4870x2 has a problem with its drivers... Other than that, I think its pretty clear the 4870x2 is ahead in performance...

Tony, do my eyes fail me? You went SLI again? (your sig)

How's it working for you this time? I hope well.

Yeah I did, I thought I'd give it another go with a new board. One of my gripes with SLI was the hit the CPU takes. Well, with this board that actually overclocks, the CPU hit is pretty much gone, I pushed the CPU a little more to compensate. Also, the 177.98s seem to make SLI much better. It must be the combination of the extra CPU power and improved drivers. Not that I'm actually playing anything, but Crysis does feel a little better with the 177.98s, and that's the worst case possible. So other games should have no problem.

I intend to re-evaluate SLI with Warhead and the new drivers that felt better in the short time I used them, after Digital Vibrance is fixed.

SLI'd 280s should perform well with Crysis and also Warhead. Crysis really needs multi-GPU to play decent at the highest settings, I've found.

Get Out While you Can.
Ditch Nvidia and SLI
I am going for ATi

Nvidia are loosing the Plot!

Overheating Chipsets and GPUs that cost a Fortune.

Personally I would not buy another again because . SLi Motherboards are a Pile of ****

I find that Nvidia as a single Graphics solution is quite good.

Single 280Gtx will beat a single 4870x2 (lowest frame rate is what matters).

However crossfire is a better solution, as you will encounter less gimmicks and Overheating Nvidia NB chipsets ............
