well nv and nvidia don't accalerate anything well.
Neveou tries to accalerate as much as possible, so you should give it a try. However it only works well with very recent builds of xorg. lg Clemens |

I fond some reasons for the slow graphic. With Subpixel Hinting turned off and with a theme that is not based on murrine or clearlooks, gtkperf runs much faster. less than 30 seconds for the same test.
With new RAM (1GB DDR 133MHz instead of 512MB SDR 100MHz) and a new gfx card (Gforce 6200), without subpixle hinting and Mist as theme gtkperf flys through the test in less than 20 seconds. An amazing performance boost for 25€ ![]() |

Just to put my oar in...
I have a really old desktop (not my main system...) Specs Celeron 466 mhz 192 MB ram TNT2 (using NV driver) Ubuntu was completely unusable on this machine - really slow. However Arch linux with xfce was a actual usable system.. (not fast in any way - but useable) - its now turned into IPcop.... |
