"Best" driver version?
I'm revamping one of my systems and reinstalling from scratch. Replacing my old ATI X850 with an nVidia 7800GS. (Older system, I'm still in AGP land.) Will be running Arch Linux with a self compiled latest stable kernel, version 126.96.36.199.
I've read over the forums a bit, and I understand that some people are having problems with various builds of the 177 series of drivers.
Any suggestions which driver would suit my system best? Best performance vs the least amount of bugs to deal with? Should I just stick with the 173 series, and will those work with the 188.8.131.52 kernel? Or is one of the 177 series a better bet? It's an "end user" system, so yes I'll be wanting Compiz Fusion, some Wine action, and the like.
Thanks for any input.
