I guess that would work, it runs off CD though, what would i have to do to get it onto HDD? Create a mini partition and copy bootable image to that? Could work...

Vista MC has really pissed me off lately. Whenever I play AVIs (TV shows or movies from BT), it will play extremely choppy and then VMC crashes. WTF?! I'm looking now to see how to get the WMC remote control to work with XBMC. MS is really pissing me off as of lately.

So I switched from VMC to XBMC, downloaded some software to get my Media Center remote working and it works really, really good. I can actually fast forward through AVIs now! And, it doesn't crash with my AVIs!

XBMC is really awesome. For the short time I got to start converting things from VMC to XBMC this weekend, everything went smoothly and everything plays smoothly. Suck on that M$, maybe you need to learn a little something from open source.

Well I have to say thanks a million nekro. XBMC rocks my world. It's soooo much better than MS Media Center.
I love how if I tell it a folder has TV Shows in it, it automatically catalogues them all and downloads pictures and episode info. Same deal for movies. And when you can explicitly tell it to look for media is specific folder and it does it right. Not like crap media center's way....that always adds other folders and crap. This program rocks!!

Nice one.
I think I'll setup an XP machine as my media center, cut out all the fat and set. XBMC to boot on startup. Best way to take advantage of the multi core decoding I think. : : |

If you guys wanna see, I'm working with a few "skinners" on XBMC's forums on creating a new skin. Check out my mockup:
