Sure is
Its a PVP heaven...

There is a little PVE in questing, and dungeon raiding but nothing like wow PVE if thats what you prefer.

We did 2 of the dungeons over the weekend in Inevitable City...they were ok.
You can have 6 in your party and there are 3 dungeons of diff levels. We did the first 2 with a team of people ranged from 15-23 and we did great until the last hydra boss in the second dungeon....but we will go back and kick its butt soon

The dungeons are short though...over in minutes thankfully.

I hit 20 and got my mount this weekend, this has made life SO much easier

I've hit rank 23 as a Disciple of Khaine on Azazel. Lots of fun. Graphics are okay but not great and the game gets CPU cycle bound a lot. I was having constant client crashes on Vista but they fixed it at launch (by disabling EAX I believe). Remember to increase AA/AF in the NV control ap since there's very few options in the game interface. Really loving the PvP aspect... despite the GCD, reminds me of old BF days. The scenarios are great and the PQ's are fun when populated. Open RVR seems to go both ways... only rarely do you get matched sized groups... though when you do it turns into a standoff in the middle and flanking battles... but still loads of fun.

Interesting that gamespot got better perf out of ATI and in one case a GTX280 over GTX280 SLI'ed:

Comical that they found going over 2G memory didn't help... but they were running Vista32. Though in my tests it doesn't really get close to 1.5G of use.

Still playing Dungeons and Dragons Online with a group of school friends now in different states. The game is 2 years old but has the same engine (and updates) as LotRO (putting it somewhere between WAR and AOC). It's getting the DX10 LotRO engine and revamping the new player area later this month. Still the best MMO for in depth party PVE and a combat system where you can actually use cover, dodge spells, with no GCD. Sadly the in-depthness and low-pop have kept new content at a snails pace for us beta players.

I wish they would offer a trial version. I'll never play any of these games unless there is a trial. There is too much money upfront to "test" the game to see if I like it. The only reason I went out and bought WoW was because it had the open beta and I was hooked.

I do have a $25 Best Buy reward zone certificate...I was gonna buy Iron Man with it though...

My biggest concern is a well-built early game experience and an empty late to end game experience. I've heard mixed things about this.

I'm only level 14 on my Engineer, but will give you some key points that keep me playing it instead of anything else.

Pros:

• Warhammer lore > all others IMO
• Each race-class has a somewhat unique feel. It's much nicer than having the same exact class between every race and faction.
• Very polished from the start. For those of us that remember WoW from 2004, there is no comparison.
• This game is built around PvP, not PvE. You can gain EXP and level up through PvP in both open world or scenarios. You can still level through PvE and see the story if you wish.
• Siege warfare. Took my first keep with a warband at level 13. This type of gameplay element is like crack.
• Some of the best base line UI customizability.
• Built for group PvP, not the solo-fest some other games are.
• The world is more 'alive' and you feel as though you are part of it. Faction control of certain areas plays a huge part in this.
• Your level plays a bigger part of how you compare in combat.
• Auto-ranking feature if you enter a scenario (battleground) as a low level. You can start playing these as soon as you create your toon at level 1. For Tier 1 (covers from ranks 1-11), you will be auto-adjusted to 8. Tier 2 makes you 18, etc. This buffs your stats and abilities to level 18 equal. Ranks = levels BTW.
• Add-on community is already alive and kicking. Check Curse Gaming.
• A database site is also kicking. Wardb.com

Cons:

• Mediocre game performance which is sure to be addressed.
• Somewhat laggy in busy situations. I'm sure this will be addressed too. It hasn't prevented me from doing things and having a blast.
• Kinda slim itemization. Gear is based upon class, and sometimes race, more than anything else. No generic plate, chain, or leather to choose from.
• Huge faction imbalance overall. Compared to WoW, it's the polar opposite ratio of Order-Destruction (vs Alliance-Horde). WAR's Destruction = WoW's Alliance. Hopefully this will be addressed with transfers and server mergers.

That's all I can think of right now. Overall, it is top-notch in my book. I haven't had this much fun in an MMO since WoW pre-TBC.
