I've had this problem a while since a beta driver I can't remember. Now I've found a way to reproduce it reliably but it's probably not something that can be trivially reproduced elsewhere.
This is VIM running on a FreeBSD server connected via SSH. The second image shows simply running the cursor along the line in insert mode, leaving trails of the cursor behind. The trails goes away if I force a redraw by clicking anywhere in the window. http://www.jcornwall.me.uk/misc/vim_working.png http://www.jcornwall.me.uk/misc/vim_corrupted.png I see this corruption much more rarely when using a terminal on the local machine. The frequency of corruption can be reduced by placing a window that's drawing something behind the terminal window, leading me to believe this is a race condition of sorts. None of this likely helps anyone fix it unless it's reproducible on a dev's machine, but I thought you'd like to know there's a bug in there somewhere. ![]() 8800 GTX, Ubuntu 8.04 with Compiz, 177.78, bug report attached. |

This sounds like a known design problem with the Damage extension. See http://lists.freedesktop.org/archive...st/038022.html for a summary of the problem.
