I have a Quadro 400 NVS quad-head card, with 3 Dell 1800FPs connected as CRTs. Different config from yours, but I originally had the same problems getting TwinView to work & the changes I provided were definitely required for my config.

Changing your config to "crt,dvi" sounds reasonable.

Also, try adding the following 2 lines just after the "crt,dvi" line:

Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "30-115"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh "50-160"

The above values assume the ViewSonic is the secondary monitor, which is what your config file & post indicate; if not, change to the correct values.

BTW, if you are not already doing so, you can boot into runlevel 3 and then start X manually using 'startx'. Testing X config changes will go a lot faster that way since you don't need to reboot in between changes, just exit the desktop environment & you'll be back at the shell command line.
