Arrow X58 Motherboards Previews

ASUS Rampage II Extreme - First Look
Quote:
Pricing has yet to be determined as we believe each of the manufacturers are waiting to hear what their competitors will charge for a board before committing to a price. What we do know is that the $185 price target mentioned for several X58 motherboards back at Computex has quickly turned into an exclusive $250 and up club from all indications.

Retail availability and launch date is another question that we cannot answer, we know the answer, it's just that our hands (and mouths) are tied by an NDA. All we can say it that it will be soon, but soon for some is tomorrow and for others it could be a month for now. Let's just say they will be out sometime this quarter.

Performance is another subject that we cannot discuss either. The reason is the same as above. Starting to see a pattern develop here? That's what an NDA will do for you. At least we can say this without having the legal eagles from the blue team sweep down upon us; the board we are showing today is the fastest one in the labs to date. It will also probably be the most expensive one, but hey, if you have to ask for the price then you probably can't afford it anyway. Read more at AnandTech

Asus P6T Deluxe Motherboard Preview

Closing Thoughts
It is clear from this short preview that the P6T Deluxe has the potential to be a very impressive product and that it will take something very special from another manufacturer to beat this. As always there are a few things we would have liked to see which are not included such as an external clear CMOS button and onboard Wi-Fi but these are only niceties rather than essentials. There are also additional features which we will cover in our upcoming review, for example the ability to run memory above the reference specifications for the platform which should make for interesting reading, so remember to check back in the future for the full lowdown. DFI exclusively shows us its LANPARTY UT X58
Quote:
The first question of course had to be about the DDR3 voltage limitations on the X58 Express chipset with Core i7, which came to light online recently. DFI told us that they were not aware of any serious issues and that they’ve tested memory working around 1.8 – 1.9 volts without killing a CPU. DFI has no intention of limiting the amount of voltage to go to the memory on the LANPARTY UT X58 and stated that they will probably support up to 2.0 – 2.1 volts and are considering providing a warning to users depending on how further testing goes up until when the board goes on sale in November. No thank you. I'm not paying ****ing $300 just because Intel decided nobody can make chipset/motherboards for their CPUs except for Intel. **** them. My next build is going to be AMD/Nvidia.

Naked DFI x58

Biostar has the best layout so far imo, gigabyte needs to get rid of those massive coolers. DFI's board looks sweet, but I doubt it will be available at launch (are they ever?) and their support kinda is meh. The asus delux has the most appeal to me, but the price will most likely be much higher than the competition.
