Default How much have you spent on vid cards since PC gaming?

I have to get a pencil and paper out myself to answer this question. I think I will get a headache when I see the figure since I have been gaming since the i740. I'm almost afraid to do it, heh heh.

Let's see.

i740 = $80
TNT = $130
TNT2 = $150
TNT 2 Ultra = $175
Geforce 2 = $300
Geforce 2 Ultra = $300
Geforce 3 Ti 500 = $400
Geforce 4 Ti4600 = $400
Radeon 9800 Pro = $500
Radeon X800 = $500

Been buying high end cards since 98. They are around 500-1000AUD each. So easily 5000+ (Especially with my 7800 and 7900 cards I ran in SLI) on Vid cards alone. ::

Hmm...

Voodoo 3 2000 PCI = $100
Geforce 2 GTS = $200
Geforce 4 Ti 4400 = $220
Geforce FX 5600 = $0 (RMA for 4400)
Radeon 9600 Pro = $30 (sold 5600 and bought this )
Geforce 6800GT = $300
Geforce 7900GTX = $500
Geforce 6200 = $30 (backup card)
Geforce 7950GX2 = $110 (step up)
Geforce 8800GTX = $75? (sold 7950GX2 and 6800GT)

Total = $1565

Really not all that much considering its been 9 years since I bought the Voodoo 3. Oblivion was responsible for me buying 3 video cards in 2006.

BTW, I didn't count the old cards I've bought. I have a couple dozen old cards laying around that I've never used in my main PC.

Goodness me! I'd be too terrified to tally all the cards up, there has been so many over the years -- permedia 2, voodoo 1, voodoo 2, Savage 3D, then just about everything nvidia has every produced bar the Riva 128.

The most expensive nvidia cards were the Geforce 2 Pro, 2x 8800GTX and 2x GTX280, the rest were pretty reasonable price wise but the expensive ones were/are all extraordinary performers in their day (and even long after their day) so I have no regrets.
