The increases are compared to a stock clock not a 1GHz OC'ed Q6600. All benches so far show next to 0% increase in performance. We need to see how well i7 OC's before we can determine if its worth any thing compared to our over clocked rigs. For every one out there thats not capable of a decent OC then yea it will be worth it.

That's why all the preview benchmarks compare the Core i7 and Core 2 Quad at same clock. If you like to compare otherwise here is what AnanTech said in one of the early preview Quote:
QuickPath Interconnect Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) Triple-channel DDR3 memory Hyper-Threading (4cores 8 threads) 4.2 version of Intel's SSE Turbo Mode and much more. I'm not going to describe all the above but if you don't know yet here are some articles to read or Google for many more. http://arstechnica.com/articles/paed...ut-nehalem.ars http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...&cp=1#comments http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=608&type=expert

Sorry you are mistaken you CAN NOT OC most i7 CPUs you will need to purchase the extreme high ends for it. Quote:
There are many reports of Bloomfeild not OCing worth a damn out there as well! http://www.nehalemnews.com/2008/06/s...h-nehalem.html

Looks to me you read very little or mainly Fudzila
http://www.nordichardware.com/news,8100.html Intel Sweden invited top overclockers from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=204273 The results are under NDA but here is what one of the guy from Nordic hardware said. Quote:

I skimmed it I didn't see no mention as to what core they used I'm going to assume the bloomfeild that intels promoting as the OCing CPU while the others remain locked
We all know that out of the 3 cores 2 are suposidly locked while only the high end uber $$$ Bloomfeild remains OC able. Has this changed?
