SLI Performance Previewed on X58 with GTX260 216SP and Forceware 180.32

Expreview has got its hands on the NVIDIA Forceware Beta Driver 180.32 and used it to setup and enable SLI with two Galaxy GTX260-216, on an Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard. The cards scored a 3DMark Vantage score of P21623, compared against a single card score of P10920 gives an approximate 98% increase. Currently it is only possible to enable SLI officially on NVIDIA based chipsets, only AMD's equivalent Crossfire system works on Intel chipsets. It is evident that the 180 series of Forceware drivers from NVIDIA (dubbed Big Bang II) not only brings multi-monitor SLI support, but also paves the way to enabling SLI on the Intel X58 Chipset. In another article, Expreview have also mentioned that the beta driver 180.42, will be officially released from NVIDIA later on today, with the final version set for November 17th this year, coinciding with the launch of Intel's Core i7 and X58 Source

Just because you're not ready to upgrade there is no need to attack others who are, with dumb talk about e-penis.

The increases are compared to a stock clock not a 1GHz OC'ed Q6600. All benches so far show next to 0% increase in performance. We need to see how well i7 OC's before we can determine if its worth any thing compared to our over clocked rigs. For every one out there thats not capable of a decent OC then yea it will be worth it.

Strange comparison, like Core i7 wont OC or people getting the i7 have no idea about overclocking.
That's why all the preview benchmarks compare the Core i7 and Core 2 Quad at same clock.

If you like to compare otherwise here is what AnanTech said in one of the early preview

At 2.66GHz, Nehalem is already faster than the fastest 3.2GHz Penryns on the market today. This thing is fast and this is on a very early platform, keep in mind that Nehalem doesn't launch until Q4 of this year.

Plus Core i7 version of Nehalem is not all about clock speed. It's about.
QuickPath Interconnect
Integrated Memory Controller (IMC)
Triple-channel DDR3 memory
Hyper-Threading (4cores 8 threads)
4.2 version of Intel's SSE
Turbo Mode and much more.

We get to know that Intel will change overclock policy when LGA1366 and LGA1160 to replace LGA775 and then Intel just allow high-end quad core Bloomfield to overclock.

Nehalem products include high-end Bloomfield (core quad, LGA1366), mid-end Lynnfield (core quad, LGA1160) and low-end Havendale (core 2 duo, LGA1160).

It is said that Intel wont limit Bloomfield to overclock but Lynnfieed and Havendale will be banned.

Nehalem family will be integrated most functions of current Northbridge chipset and Intel maybe to change something such as BIOS visit, FSB control, etc.

We dont know why Intel did this and we also wonder if Intel will change their mind. It is possible that overclock will be only belonging to high-end gamers while the mid-end and low-end users just can ran at the default clocks.

There are many reports of Bloomfeild not OCing worth a damn out there as well!

All I can say is that every piece of FUD you may have read about this particular hardware, that it is going to be hard to overclock, have memory issues or what is just that, FUD.

I skimmed it I didn't see no mention as to what core they used I'm going to assume the bloomfeild that intels promoting as the OCing CPU while the others remain locked We all know that out of the 3 cores 2 are suposidly locked while only the high end uber $$$ Bloomfeild remains OC able. Has this changed?
