I was thinking of maybe adding a WTB/WTT thread in the FS forums. If people need something, they just post it there.

We don't allow them because its open to scammers. If someone makes a WTB post, anyone can PM them and say "send me the money and I'll send you the part". As it is now, people are required to register or post their feedback before anyone knows they want to sell anything.

I wish we could have a WTB thread but I don't know if it'd work so well if it was open to new users.

EDIT: what about making it so person has to be registered to ask for a part/supply it.

Once someone makes a WTB thread its pretty much out of our hands. If someone PMs them an offer that they don't want to pass up and it turns out to be a scam we have no way of controlling that. Its much safer for everyone here to just not allow public requests for items because its tough to not be tempted when someone makes a killer offer.

I know most people here are pretty reasonable but I think our complaints of scammers would go through the roof if we had lots of WTB posts.

The only way I can see it being possible is if the WTB thread or WTB forum required special user access for long time members.
